  China Power Complete Equipment Co., Ltd. (CPCEC), established in 1972, is a subsidiary wholly-owned by China Power Investment Corporation (CPI). Originally, it was a company under Ministry of Water Resources and Electric Power, and was renamed Complete Equipment Bureau under Ministry of Water Resources and Electric Power in 1987. In 1999, it was officially reconstituted into CPCEC, which has a registered capital of RMB106.85 million and over 400 employees.

  CPCEC is honored as the pioneer and pacemaker in tender and procurement service, complete equipment service, equipment consulting and supervision businesses in China’s power industry. CPCEC takes responsibility for formulating samples of tender document for thermal power equipment procurement and for ICB procurement of power transmission equipment, and is one of the principal makers of the regulations/standards on equipment supervision in China.

  CPCEC has created over 20 records in equipment tendering activities, complete equipment service, and equipment supervision during the development of thermal power, hydropower, nuclear power, wind power and power transmission and distribution as well in China.

  CPCEC has delivered equipment procurement and consulting services for more than 500 projects covering almost 30 provinces (municipalities, autonomous regions) across China with total installed capacity of approx. 400GW.

  CPCEC has performed equipment supervision services for approx. 200 projects with total installed capacity of around 200GW covering thermal power, hydropower, nuclear power, wind power and power transmission and distribution, involving more than 200 manufactories both at home and abroad.

  CPCEC has rendered bidding procurement and consulting services for non-power projects in coal, aluminum and railway industries.

  CPCEC has provided services in CDM project development, monitoring and CO2 emission reduction trading for dozens of projects in more than 20 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, covering electric power, coal, metallurgy and building materials industries.

  CPCEC has promoted electric power equipment accreditation among one thousand manufactories and its certification is accepted by major power groups in China.

  The website http://www.cpeinet.com.cn/ created and operated by CPCEC has developed into a well-known information exchange platform for electric power equipment and e-commerce platform for bidding and tendering as well as procurement.

  CPCEC always keeps pace with the development of cutting-edge power technologies. It acts as the director/deputy director of a dozen of country-level academies, associations, technology committees, or as the council member. It participated in the introduction, digestion and absorption of foreign design & manufacturing technology of the main machine and auxiliaries of 300MW/600MW units. CPCEC has organized and prepared numerous research reports about equipment quality and performance. Currently, CPCEC is playing an important role in promoting the application of IGCC technology, 1000MW ultra-super critical power generating technology, and the third generation of nuclear power technology AP1000, etc.

  In the international arena, CPCEC has successfully accomplished technical and commercial consulting for a host of projects financed by the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and Loans from Foreign Governments. It has won many foreign projects as an equipment general contractor including the urban power grid upgrade of Katmandu, Nepal. For many years, it has fostered good partnership with many big names like EdF, ALSTOM, AREVA, ABB, GE, and SIEMENS, etc.

  In recent years, guided by the concept of Development is top priority, CPCEC is undergoing the transformation from a major service provider in electric power industry to one in energy industry. CPCEC capitalized on its competitive advantages of talent pool, technology, market share and information resources and made significant steps in its business expansion by developing IGCC, nuclear power, wind power, solar energy, biomass energy and new energy power and non-power businesses including coal, aluminum, railway, port based on the conventional power and hydropower experiences. Building on its complete equipment service, bidding and procurement, equipment supervision, import & export businesses, it also developed new businesses such as engineering bidding, pipe supply, general contracting of equipment and engineering, post-project evaluation, centralized procurement, storage and distribution of production materials and spare parts, non-ferrous metal and correlated products trading, unit shut-off response, logistics service, CDM development and monitoring, CO2 emission reduction trading, product certification and test service. Through its unremitting efforts, CPCEC is rendering more inclusive and more valuable services to its customers. 

  Complete Equipment Company under Ministry of Water Resources and Electric Power was established in 1972.

  After 1987, the company was successively renamed Complete Equipment Bureau under Ministry of Water Resources and Electric Power and Complete Equipment Bureau under Ministry of Energy.

  In February 1993, the company was officially incorporated under the name of China National Power Complete Equipment Corporation. Meanwhile, it also performed the functions of the Complete Equipment Bureau under Ministry of Power Industry.

  In October 1999, it was reconstituted into China Power Complete Equipment Co., Ltd. with State Power Corporation as the controlling company and State Development & Investment Corporation as the participating company. Meanwhile, it also performed the functions of the Complete Equipment Department of State Power Corporation.

  In December 2002, due to the restructuring of power industry in China, the shares held by former State Power Corporation were transferred to China Power Investment Corporation (CPI).

  In 2008,the shares held by State Development & Investment Corporation were transferred to CPI and CPCEC became a wholly-owned subsidiary of CPI.
